Apple Pancakes

Ok, so I know I've been on a major apple kick lately, apple cookies, apple picking totes and now apple pancakes (it is Fall after all!)

Last night I made apple pancakes, they were delicious...I got the idea from Not Martha. The pancake recipe came from here. They were delicious and a great way to use up the rest of the apples from our CSA. I sprinkled cinnamon and sugar on the top but I think if I made them again I would put more spices in the batter, maybe nutmeg and cloves and drizzle warm honey over the top, mmmm.....

The Knitting Bug...

I have the knitting bug, ever since my friend at work made this adorable neck warmer for herself. I have had the itch to start knitting again.

You remember that knitting class I took last winter...um, yeah, I haven't picked up a knitting needle since. I have been looking online for cute patterns...I love this hat...it seems so warm and cozy!

Apple Pickin'

Ok so I am kind of obsessed with linen fabric, I love it...I want to use it in every sewing project, even when it's not always appropriate. So you can imagine my excitement when I found this free pattern for a linen apple picking tote! I think this bag is cute enough for every day use. I love it!

Quilting...

I'm starting to work on Christmas gifts already. I'm hoping if I start now I won't be rushing at the last minute to finish everything like last year. Most of our gifts will be hand made this year, my most ambitious project will be a quilt for my parents. I'm planning on making the color wheel quilt from Joelle Hoverson's Last Minute Patchwork and Quilted Gifts.

Last year my mom and I were in Purl Soho and they had this quilt hanging on the wall behind the register. My mom kept saying how beautiful it was and according to the book, it is supposed to be relatively easy to make. Plus it will help get rid of some of the many fabric scraps I have stashed away! I'll keep you posted on the outcome!

New Blog

For those interested in following the planning process of my wedding, I have created a new blog. It's a way for me to keep track of the planning process and all the little bits of inspiration I find all over the internet and I don't have to inundate this blog with wedding stuff!

I need a change...

I think one of the reasons I haven't been motivated or inspired lately is because I have sort of lost my desire to continue with bath products. I started out making soap and then I had all these ideas for bath salts and scrubs and all kinds of other things and now I am not really feeling inspired by it any more. I want to be more creative and I feel like there is only so much you can do with bath products. I enjoy making them for my own use but I can't see myself expanding my line to include anything other than soaps.

I am at a cross roads because I don't know where to go from here. I will continue to make soaps but I really want to make other things too. I just don't know what!

Cabin in the woods...

When we were in Alaska we stayed in the cabin pictured above. It was located back from the beach perched on a little hill so you couldn't see it from the shoreline. It had no electricity, the lights ran off of a solar panel and the water that came through the kitchen sink was collected from rain water.

I loved every minute of it, it was glorified camping but it was so much fun. Our guide who stayed across the island from us in an abandoned cannery built the entire cabin himself with wood scraps from the cannery. The cabin also had a banya, which we used every day when we came back from fishing.

Ever since Mike and I have been back from Alaska we have been dreaming about having a little cabin in the woods like the one we stayed at in Alaska. I've been browsing Sunset Magazine online, they have an amazing resource of cabin retreats that are off the grid.

Confession...

I have a confession to make...I have not been feeling inspired lately. I don't know if the wedding planning is sucking all the inspiration from me or if it has just been hard getting back into the swing of things since my vacation. It's starting to become really frustrating. I have a long list of things I need to do for the shop but the thought of it all makes my head swim! I really want to make Kopah successful, I want this to be something I can do full time but I have absolutely no motivation these days. It has never taken me this long to get back into the swing of things. I have all these ideas in my head, things I want to implement but I can't seem to get off my lazy but and start them! Help!! What do you do when you get stuck in a rut like this?!

Coco

So a few weeks ago I was flipping through channels and saw that Lifetime was showing a movie about the life of Coco Chanel. I knew nothing about her life prior to watching the movie, just the basics. What an amazing woman! She was incredibly independant and very strong willed and she had such amazing style...the movie is definitely worth watching!

Lame...

I'm sorry for being so non-existent lately! I know it's totally lame but I am feeling so much pressure to find a location and that is literally taking up every second of time and quite frankly zapping all the fun from this whole wedding/engagement thing! It seems like we have zeroed in on a place but they are incredibly slow at getting back to me because it's wedding season and they are super busy which is totally understandable! Since I found this place though, now all of a sudden I am finding all these other places that I really like...of course! It must be Murphy's law or something...but at least we have some fall back locations if this one doesn't pan out.

Just to give you an idea of what I am going for...
