I am from NYC too and a few yea...Not too strange... I am from NYC too and a few years back had an opportunity to work on a farm upstate (cows mostly) but it was the best few months of m life. Couldn't really adapt to smell but to look out into the horizon and see the mountains and sun rise...O did I mention the FRESH air? Boy I loved it...
